Week 1, Day 3 #BigGirlsDoItRunning

Day 3 of #BigGirlsDoItRunning

If you missed my last couple days, you can click the tag "WilderWay" at the bottom of this post to link you to all the posts for the challenges.

Here's my recap of the remainder of day 2 and breakfast of day 3.

For once, I wasn't hungry until lunch time.  Granted by that time I was suddenly starving.  I'm not sure why it hit me so hard but I wanted to devour my lunch.  I had another salad with some pretzels. Same dressing on the salad, but no meat this time.  I forgot to grab it.  I was full after lunch which was good and tried to eat slow since I was so hungry.  I wanted to make the food last and I felt like if I slowed that down, I'd process it better.  I'm not sure if that's true but I tell myself that.

I had a snack around 3:00 of one of the Peanut Nature Valley Bars.  I knew I had things to do tonight and I didn't want to have my sugar drop so I grabbed that snack.

When I got home, I wasn't great.  My kids were eating popcorn, I grabbed a handful.  I also grabbed a small bowl of cheese.  (I logged it all, but felt guilty at night for grabbing these things.)

Dinner was amazing.  It was a "nothing" dinner really but just seasoned so well.  Hubby did a great job making it!  We had cheese burgers and sauteed vegetables.  Here's my plate.

See, super simple.  The important thing with this plate...  even just a year ago you'd never catch me with vegetables on my plate, not to mention them taking up over half of it!  Progress.

Drinking today was 97% water.  I had a half of a diet coke when I broke down and snacked after work.  So again, I'm pretty proud of myself.

Exercise today was my tap dance class.  Don't raise your eyebrow at me.  I've been dancing since I was 3 years old.  So, it's not an "old persons" beginners class that you don't get much movement from.  It's an "old person" advanced class that you sweat your ass off in.  I came home gross but feeling great.  Sore but great!  Unfortunately I can't keep my phone on me during class so I don't know how many steps I took during it.  I don't have a fitbit or anything like that so I can't measure what I actually did in there.  Might have to look into options for this.

Start of Day 3:

I was super sore getting up today, but really not tired.  Dare I say somewhat energized?  Might need to step back and re-evaluate that statement.  We'll see how it is tomorrow...

Weigh in this morning:
248.2 (Same as the day before)
(I know this will fluctuate throughout the week, but I snuck a look at the weeks ahead and Jasinda said to weigh every day and make a note. I'm just implementing it earlier.)

Reminder of the weekly challenge:
No sugar at breakfast.  Focus on protein-rich foods.  Completely cut out all sugar before noon.

Again for breakfast hubby made eggs with green peppers and green onions.  I had my water for a drink. I grabbed one of my daughter's donuts and had it almost to my mouth before I remembered NO SUGAR!  I groaned (yes, I really did) and put it back.  Yay me, but I still want that stupid thing.  LOL

I'm at work, not tired.  Feeling full.  I want to grab a snack because it's habit, but am resisting the temptation.  I think I'll go fill up my water instead.  I'm also looking forward to my walk tonight!

Just in case you didn't get the book yet that all this is based off of....

Week 1, Day 2 #BigGirlsDoItRunning

Day 2 of #BigGirlsDoItRunning

If you read my last post you'll know I embarked on Jasinda Wilder's path to getting healthy.  You can read about it here.  <--  Click the here.

Anyways, I'm going to recap the remainder of Day 1 before moving on to day 2....

Lunch I had a salad with a few chunks of chicken breast that was seasoned with fajita seasoning.  She (Jasinda) talks about salad dressings, but honestly right now, if I'm going to eat salad and enjoy it, I will eat the dressing that I enjoy.  At least that is my thinking for now.  I don't want to loathe eating and she doesn't want you too either.  So I grabbed my favorite Ranch dressing and applied is sparingly.  I didn't drown it like I'd usually do so that's a plus in my book.  I also had a Nature Valley bar, the peanut one.  It's not an official protein bar, but it tastes yummy and just gave me a little more to fill my tummy.

Dinner we had fiesta bowls.

We had brown rice instead of the quinoa.  That's what I had in the house so that's what we had.  I'm not trying to drain my bank account getting a ton of specialty stuff just yet.

At night I was craving something sweet and I should have just downed the water, but I didn't and grabbed a Diet Coke.  Yes I know, bad me.  Sue me.  It was the only one I had for the day.

Throughout the day I drank water like it was going out of style.  I can't tell you how many glasses I drank.  Every time I felt hungry I drank.  If it was alcohol I'd be dead I'm sure.  However, I don't mind drinking water, it just has to be ice cold.  Warm water makes me gag.

One other thing that I did last night was go on a walk.  You're probably thinking, oh nice, you did a casual once around the neighborhood...  No, I strapped up my shoes, got my music on and hustled my fat ass down every side street and circle in my neighborhood.  I'm happy to report I didn't die.  Not that I usually do but I felt really good while I was doing it.  I know I need new shoes though, but that's the least of my problems right now.  Here's my recap of my walk!!

Yes you are reading that right...  3.84 miles!  I'd love to do it again today, but I have dance class.  Yes, don't laugh.  I'm a fat girl that dances and I'm proud of it.  I take tap, but more about that tomorrow.

What I love most about my walks is the alone time.  It's me and the music and nature.  Yes, I occasionally run into a fellow walker and have to do the obligatory nod or wave, but most of the time it's just me.  The kids aren't there and normally the hubby isn't either.  He either runs in the morning or stays back with the kids.  We're able to walk together sometimes if we can get the neighbor to watch the kids.  They're too young to stay home by themselves yet.

Last night, I had a lot of nature sites.  Bunnies, squirrels, dogs, and

Last night grazing by the lake was this mom and dad and their 2 babies.  I had to stop and take a few pictures and just watch them.  They were magnificent.  Even though I slowed down for a bit after that stop, I quickly picked up the pace and kept right on going.

Anyways, I made it through day 1.  I wasn't hungry.  I was exhausted and sore, but that's nothing new.  On to day 2.

So that brings me to the morning of Day 2.

Weigh in this morning:
248.2
(I know this will fluctuate throughout the week, but I snuck a look at the weeks ahead and Jasinda said to weigh every day and make a note. I'm just implementing it earlier.)

Reminder of the weekly challenge:
No sugar at breakfast.  Focus on protein-rich foods.  Completely cut out all sugar before noon.

Again for breakfast hubby made eggs with green peppers and green onions.  I had my water for a drink.  I'm not a coffee person so I at least don't have to worry about a coffee detox.

Now I'm sitting at my desk at work writing this.  I'm tired but didn't feel as though I was going to fall asleep on the way to work like I usually do.  I guess that's a plus.  It's only day 2 though so I can't imagine it has anything to do with the my actions yesterday.

Well, I'm off to do real work now...  but before I do, I should mention that I've been "trying" to lose weight since January and it's not May...  I started out at 265 and my lowest was 243.5, but as you can see with my first weigh in, I had already started to gain weight back...  So, yes, I don't drink Soda like I did at the end of the year, I already did that detox and usually only have 1 a day if that...

Just in case you didn't get the book yet that all this is based off of....

Week 1, Day 1 #BigGirlsDoItRunning

Today I embark on the the #WilderWay.  If you haven't heard of it, you need to check this out!

Jasinda Wilder has written a book entitled, Big Girls Do It Running, that is claimed to be the end all to dieting and THE way to get healthy and lose weight while you can continue to eat chocolate and drink wine.

A week ago, I purchased the book from amazon. (Please note, the price shown is for the hardback, the ebook is $5.99.  Don't panic!)

I dove right into the book.  I was going to do this, I was going to get healthy.  I was going to lose the weight.  Jasinda had all the answers.

I got to chapter 10 and I put the book down and cried.  I couldn't do this.  I'm picky when it comes to eating.  I want to throw up at all the things she was suggesting eating.

I didn't pick the book up for 3 days after that.  Commence binge eating.

Not only did I feel like shit because the book that was supposed to be answering all my questions made me feel worse, but then I ate everything in site and nothing good for me.

After I got it out of my system, I began reading again.  I'm not sure why I decided to pick it back up but I'm glad I did.  Honestly, I scanned it.  I couldn't read word for word because I was afraid that I was going to feel overwhelmed again.

Something changed in me when I got to part 4 of the book.  This I could do.  What was it that changed my mind?

*Copyright Big Girls Do It Running, Jasinda Wilder.*

Yes, I know the first 3 parts of the book are supposed to get you prepared for this challenge, but honestly, for me it just stressed me out and set me back before I could even start.  Thankfully, I pushed through.

In this part, Jasinda lays out what you need to do each week.  Every one adds something manageable to the table while working on what you've started the week before.  Now, you could just read the week you are on and be fine in my opinion, but when you get toward the end of the week, you should read ahead to the next challenge so you know what you need to shop for at the store!

So that brings me back to today, Day 1 of Week 1 of the 8 week challenge.

Week 1:  The challenge:
First part:
No sugar at breakfast.  Focus on protein-rich foods.  Completely cut out all sugar before noon.

Okay, I can do that.  We (Hubs & I) are going to kick this challenge's ass.

Jasinda gives suggestions on things you can eat and guess what...  They are things I'll eat!  So, here's my day 1 breakfast:

Eggs, scrambled with green peppers and green onions mixed in.

Now, if you're thinking like my hubby you are probably saying eggs every morning?  I might get sick of that.  Don't worry, she has other things suggested and you'll see me adding those in throughout the weeks.

Second Part:
Sign up for a 5k.

Well, I haven't done this yet.  I will.  Promise.

So here's my stats for the beginning of this life change:
Weight: 250.9

Sue me, I forgot to take a picture before I started getting dressed.

Onward to day two!
